Castle Hill Hospital, Hull


The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Castle Hill Hospital in the Village of Cottingham on the outskirts of Hull was established in the early 1970s. The Department provides adult cardiac and thoracic surgical services including oesophageal surgery in the East Yorkshire serving a total population of 1.2 millions with 600,000 in Hull City and the rest in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We provide satellite outpatient facilities and Cardiac as well as Lung MDTs at York, Scunthorpe, Bridlington, Scarbourgh and Grimsby. The Department moved in 2009 to a state of the art development in the Centre of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery with two wards 26 and 27, 3 dedicated theatres and Cardiac ITU.
